PEGGY

Co-Director/Sound Designer/Co-Composer

Peggy is a short narrative film created as part of the prestigious 2023/24 Lord Puttnam Scholarship Programme, presented by Cork International Film Festival in partnership with University College Cork.

Set around a deceptively simple cup of tea, Peggy follows a mother caught between her two bickering adult sons. As old tensions resurface and familial fault lines deepen, Peggy quietly reclaims her agency, embodying the phrase: actions speak louder than words. It’s a poignant, sharply observed exploration of generational dynamics, emotional labour, and the quiet resilience of motherhood.

I was honoured to serve as Co-director, sound designer, and co-composer on this project. This multidisciplinary role allowed me to contribute to the creative vision from script development to final mix, helping to shape the emotional tone of the film through both performance and sound. My sound design approach was rooted in subtlety, focusing on ambient tension and emotional nuance, while the score was developed frame protagonist, Peggy's isolated and independent head space.

Peggy premiered at the Aula Maxima at University College Cork (2025) as part of a special screening event celebrating the 70th anniversary of Cork International Film Festival. The screening was followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers and Lord David Puttnam himself, offering an insight into the mentorship and collaborative process behind the film.

Peggy was also selected to screen at Fastnet Film Festival 2025.
